Bridal Gowns

Short wedding gown

A short wedding gown may seem less formal than a gown that reaches the ground or trails a long train, but there are other benefits to be had if you have the courage to be a little different with your gown length.

If you have gorgeous legs, a short gown allows you to show them off. This is especially great for brides who may not want all of the focus to be on their upper body. If you are very proud of your shoes, you may also love a short wedding gown that lets you show them off. In the end it comes down to taste, completely, but if you are proud of your shoes and legs, why not try on a few short styles and see how they work for you.

Is the first item on your wedding to-do list, “shop for a wedding dress”? Not so fast! In the Spring 2009 issue of InStyle Weddings, celebrity wedding gown designer Vera Wang advices against making your wedding dress your first purchase. According to her, you can’t choose a dress properly unless you’ve decided on a venue and how many guests you’ll be having. Why not, you say? A casual tea-length dress will look small and out of place in a huge wedding with 400 guests, whereas a ball gown will overwhelm a small venue with less than a hundred guests.

Bridal Fashion in Ghosts of Girlfriends Past

ghosts-of-girlfriends-past
The romantic comedy Ghosts of Girlfriends Past is opening this week and is certainly not like a lot of romantic comedies out there. The story is about notorious bachelor Connor (Matthew McConaughey) and how he encounters the ghosts of three ex-girlfriends the day before his brother’s wedding. Costume designer Denise Wingate was in charge of picking out what everyone would wear to the movie, and her approach was very down-to-earth. Rather than having designers create custom dresses just for the film, she went around shopping like a real bride looking for great deals. The result is a mix of well known wedding dress designers like Amsale, and insider favorites Jenny Lee and Jenny Yoo.
